What do I need to have to purchase a gun in Montana?

To purchase a handgun in Montana you must be at least 21 years of age and be a Montana resident. To purchase a long gun you must be 18 or older. We are able to sell long guns to several reciprocal states. To purchase a long gun we must follow both Montana law as well as the state laws in which you reside. Please give us a call at 406-251-3399 if you are from out of state wishing to purchase a long gun.

Do you buy used guns?

Yes! We love to purchase used firearms! Bring in what you are looking to sell and we will make you a competitive offer. We will pay you cash or check for your firearms, whatever you prefer.

Do you consign guns?

Unfortunately, we do not consign. However, we frequently are able to agree on a “Buy It Now” price with customers. You leave with cash in hand today rather than having to field multiple offers.

What is the warranty on firearms?

All firearms are warrantied with the manufacturer. We will work with you, though, if problems arise to get your gun back to the manufacturer and serviced in a timely manner. It’s important to give manufacturers the opportunity to warranty unforeseen issues as gunsmithing can potentially void your warranty.

How does having my Montana Concealed Weapons Permit help me when purchasing a gun?

What does “delay” mean?

When we run your 44-73 background check through the NICS system, they will provide us with three possible responses.

  1. Proceed – this means you may leave with your firearm now.
  2. Delay – this allows the government to do further reviews for three business days, which is not counting when you do the check and when you can pick it up. Delay can update to “proceed” during that period of time, which means you can pick up your firearms. Delay can also change to “open” if a response is not provided in that time period. If your status changes to “open” Federal law allows us to transfer the firearms to you.
  3. Denied – this is the third, but uncommon, response you can receive, prohibiting us from transferring the firearms to you. If you receive a denial we strongly recommend an appeal process so you can get your rights restored. In the unlikely event you are denied unexpectedly, we will walk you through the appeal process.

Can I return it if I don’t like it?

Firearms are a federally regulated item. When you purchase it we log it out to you. If you wish to trade it in, it is treated as a used (even if unfired) firearm. We can certainly buy it back from you, but we will have to sell it as a used firearm.

Do you clean firearms for customers?

All our firearms go out for sale clean. If you require cleaning after use we can do so with gunsmithing rates. We can mount and boresight your rifle for you. If you purchase with us, we do this at no charge.
